A Cause Within A Cause
Being the Model of Social Change
At curaJOY
Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility isn’t just something we talk about — it’s fundamental to who we are and how we do our work. We set ourselves apart from the rest in two major ways: investment in our people and business model.
While our outward focus is to spread emotional wellness globally, our inner focus is providing opportunities for underrepresented groups in the tech sphere and helping our team advance in their careers and lives. Our talent consists of stay-at-home parents, high school and college students, retirees, refugees, those who cannot obtain work visas, those in developing nations, working professionals, people with learning differences, and folks in career transition. We are a volunteer-driven, grassroots organization that integrates opportunities for our team to learn new skills and earn certifications that will open doors to employment, accrue community service hours, conduct research, and stay abreast of new technologies and best practices during employment gaps or in addition to their “day jobs.” It takes longer to get the necessary work done with a volunteer force, but we can say with 100% certainty that everything we do at curaJOY is a work of heart and labor of love.
It takes a lot of people to build a movement from the ground up, and even more to expand and sustain that movement. We believe in doing things the right way, for the right reasons.

It would have been easier and faster to secure seed funding from private investors to get up and running, but we can only achieve our mission by ensuring that we have no commercial interest in the development or use of artificial intelligence. We seek funding from grants and donors to achieve this. Our AI is safeguarded by giving families control over their wellness journey and involving providers from multiple disciplines in creating our algorithms and content. We’ve collaborated with experts in various fields of psychology, social work, and education to make our products as helpful as possible for academic research and as practical tools for use in therapies. Our research collaborations will extend the existing body of scientific literature on the utility of AI in behavioral healthcare, wellness, and education.
